Fourways Gardens Estates has issued a statement regarding a viral video depicting an armed robbery that occurred outside its premises on February 13, just before Valentine’s Day. The estate’s 24/7 Security service, which is armed and widely recommended, made a strategic decision during the incident not to engage the suspects to protect bystanders from potential harm, despite the sudden nature of the crime. The footage shows the suspects targeting a specific individual at the estate’s visitor entry gate before making their escape in a black Mercedes vehicle.
Charlene Marlin, the estate manager, indicated that the robbery appears to be opportunistic but involved targeted theft, prompting ongoing investigations in collaboration with the South African Police Service (SAPS). The Fourways Gardens Homeowners Association urges residents to remain vigilant and avoid spreading unverified information that could jeopardize the investigation, emphasizing their commitment to community safety and security in this troubling incident.
