The Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) has filed a motion for summary judgment in a lawsuit aimed at permanently ending restrictions on carrying firearms in certain locations across Texas. These laws currently prohibit firearms in places such as businesses where alcohol makes up over 51% of sales, racetracks, and sporting events, which FPC argues are unconstitutional.
As part of its strategic litigation initiative, FPC seeks a federal court declaration to invalidate these carry bans and enable law-abiding citizens to protect themselves in ordinary public spaces. FPC President Brandon Combs emphasizes the importance of allowing peaceable Texans to exercise their Second Amendment rights fully, which adds significant legal and social implications to the unfolding case.
