FSU Shooting Suspect Shows Disfigured Face in Mugshot

Phoenix Ikner, the 20-year-old accused of a mass shooting at Florida State University, has been booked on first-degree murder charges after his release from the hospital. A newly released mugshot reveals his disfigured face, a result of being shot in the jaw by police during the April 17 incident, which left two dead and six others wounded.

Ikner’s alleged rampage unfolded dramatically when he opened fire on campus, using a handgun that belonged to his stepmother, a former law enforcement officer. After the police engaged him, the situation escalated quickly and led to his injury. As he awaits his first court appearance, the shocking specifics of the shooting continue to raise questions about safety and security on university grounds.
