The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announces the second year of its Outdoors Beyond Barriers (OBB) adaptive hunting program, providing expanded opportunities for hunters with mobility impairments. This year, participants can apply for up to eight hunting events, including seven deer hunts and one dove hunt, set to take place on public lands throughout the state. Applications are due by September 10, 2025, highlighting the urgency for interested hunters to take action.
The OBB initiative aims to alleviate barriers for those with mobility challenges, allowing them to engage in outdoor activities that may have previously felt inaccessible. In addition to the hunting events, the program also offers amenities such as Action Trackchairs at state parks, accessible fishing piers, and a new “courtesy license” for hunters participating in adaptive events. This license grants up to seven days of participation without needing to purchase additional licenses, promoting greater inclusivity in Georgia’s hunting community.
