Statistics indicate that Black youth are at a significantly higher risk for gun-related deaths compared to other racial groups, with research revealing systemic inequities contributing to these disparities. Notably, a recent letter from University of Michigan researchers highlights this alarming trend as firearms have become the leading cause of death among children and adolescents in the U.S. Colorado’s Rocky Mountain Gun Owners leadership later stated that Lorusso “misspoke” during the testimony, emphasizing that this experience was part of his initial training in public advocacy.
