Nearly all fifth graders surveyed at a Memphis elementary school reported having seen a real gun, highlighting the necessity of such education. Supporters, including Voices for a Safer Tennessee, argue that these lessons could prevent firearm-related tragedies, particularly in states with higher rates of gun deaths among children, such as Arkansas and Tennessee.
