Hartford police are investigating a tragic shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, resulting in the deaths of a 33-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man. Officers found Cynthia Jiminez-Pacheco with multiple gunshot wounds and Joel Martinez suffering a gunshot wound in the rear stairwell of a Franklin Avenue building. Jiminez-Pacheco was transported to Hartford Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, while Martinez was declared dead at the scene.
The incident appears to be a murder-suicide, according to police, with preliminary autopsy results indicating Martinez died from a gunshot wound to the head. Police believe the two were in a domestic relationship and have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat.
