In addition to adding a line of newly fitted weapons, this initiative promises to solve logistical issues faced by the department during past emergencies when they struggled to provide deputies with replacements swiftly. Captain Matthew Shell emphasizes that these upgraded handguns come compatible with existing holsters and magazines, therefore avoiding additional costs. With the trade-in amounting to nearly $34,000, the Sheriff’s Office completes the upgrade without requiring more funds from the budget, showcasing a strategic financial approach amid growing operational challenges.
