Healey-Driscoll Admin Awards $1.1M for Public Safety

The Healey-Driscoll Administration announces the allocation of $1,155,240 in public safety grants aimed at bolstering local and state law enforcement collaborations. This funding supports the Commonwealth Project Safe Neighborhood (CPSN) Initiative and the Human Trafficking Enforcement and Training Grant Program, with specific portions directed towards the prosecution of violent crimes and enhancing community-based prevention services.

Among the recipients, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office receives $75,000 for human trafficking initiatives and $62,500 under the CPSN initiative to combat gang activity and drug distribution. Governor Maura Healey emphasizes that community safety is a collective effort, underscoring the measurable impact of such grants—nearly 500 arrests, the seizure of over 30,000 grams of narcotics, and significant support for victims of exploitation. This dual approach not only addresses immediate threats but also invests in preventative strategies aimed at creating healthier community pathways.
