Honduran Man Indicted in New Orleans for Gun Charge

Mainor Fuentes-Pineda, a 22-year-old Honduran national, has been indicted in Orleans Parish for illegal possession of a firearm, following his arrest on April 29, 2025. He is charged under Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(5), after police found him in possession of a Glock Model 42 semi-automatic pistol, which could lead to a sentence of up to 15 years in prison along with substantial fines.

This case is part of the Department of Justice’s Operation Take Back America, aimed at combating illegal immigration and organized crime. Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson emphasized that although Fuentes-Pineda has been indicted, the charges must be proven in court, highlighting the ongoing national debate surrounding gun control and immigration law. The indictment raises questions about community safety and the legal complexities surrounding illegal firearm possession by undocumented individuals.
