Hyannis Man Gets 8-Year Sentence for Gun and Drug Crimes

A 32-year-old man from Hyannis, Tommy Lee Galvin, faces an eight-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to serious gun and drug charges in federal court. Galvin received a sentence of 97 months from U.S. District Court Judge Angel Kelley for possessing a privately made firearm and fentanyl intended for distribution, highlighting the ongoing battle against drug-related crime in the region.

Arrested in June 2023 with six grams of fentanyl and multiple firearm rounds, Galvin’s case sheds light on the intersection of drug trafficking and gun violence. His indictment in August and subsequent guilty plea in December 2024 reflect a growing concern about the availability of lethal drugs and homemade weapons in Massachusetts, prompting investigation by federal authorities.
