A 76-year-old man, Ronald Schmidt, faces first-degree murder charges after allegedly shooting his daughter-in-law, Christine Moyer, during a wedding reception in Schaumburg, Illinois. The tragic incident unfolded Friday as Moyer, 45, exited the hotel venue, reportedly followed by Schmidt, who then shot her in the head in the parking lot.
Moyer was swiftly transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Eyewitnesses reported that Schmidt was being restrained by a citizen when police arrived at the scene, where a firearm was recovered nearby.
