The Indian Army displays its new Ten AI Weapon System (TAIWS) at the Aero India 2025 show in Bangalore, showcasing an artificial intelligence-based remote weapon that promises to boost border surveillance and counter-insurgency efforts. This innovative system integrates AI capabilities to autonomously track, detect, and fire, with its primary weapon—a customizable 7.62 mm medium machine gun—mounted on a tripod, enhancing its operational versatility.
Developed by the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers, TAIWS is equipped with sophisticated features like a thermal imager, optical camera, and advanced sensor fusion for real-time threat analysis. Colonel Ashish Dogra highlights the system’s robust night mode with a detection range of 700 meters and a 40x optical zoom camera. Currently undergoing enhancements for weather resistance, TAIWS combines manual and semi-automatic controls, keeping human oversight integral to its operation.
