JSO Shoots Armed Suspect at Stabbing Scene in Jacksonville

Jacksonville police fatally shoot a 58-year-old man who was armed with two knives during a response to a violent scene involving two stabbing victims. The incident, which occurred on May 2, marks the city’s third fatal police shooting of 2025, equaling last year’s total already. Despite the suspect’s actions, the two individuals he attacked are expected to survive their injuries.

Chief Alan Parker detailed the confrontation, stating that the officer engaged the suspect after he failed to comply with commands to drop his weapons while approaching the victims. Witness reports indicate that the suspect had been drinking prior to the attack, raising questions about the motivations behind the incident. This marks Officer Delong Zheng’s first police shooting in his seven years on the force, highlighting the ongoing concerns related to policing and community safety in Jacksonville.
