Kansas City Man Admits to Selling Illegal Gun Conversion Device

Demetrius Harris, a 24-year-old Kansas City resident, has pleaded guilty to federal weapons charges after selling an illegal conversion device to an undercover agent. The device, which allows semi-automatic firearms to operate as machine guns with a single trigger pull, is strictly prohibited under federal law due to its potential for rapid gunfire.

Harris’s actions, documented in court, involved the sale of an AR-style firearm equipped with this illegal switch in January 2024. He now faces the possibility of a 10-year prison sentence without parole when he is sentenced later this year, highlighting the serious legal consequences associated with firearm trafficking offenses.
