Kent Police officers fire at a 48-year-old sexual assault suspect who pointed a handgun at them during an early morning encounter on Wednesday. The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. when Seattle Police requested assistance in locating the man sought for felony sexual assault and domestic violence, leading officers to his apartment in Kent.
The standoff escalated after the suspect retreated into his apartment, prompting a response from Valley SWAT. Shortly thereafter, police witnessed smoke emerging from the apartment, suggesting a fire triggered by the sprinkler system. Following unsuccessful negotiations, the suspect emerged but resisted commands, ultimately leading to his apprehension by a police K9 unit. He sustained minor injuries in the process.
