A 43-year-old man, Bobby Lee Wright Jr., has been charged with multiple felonies following a shooting that resulted in the death of 27-year-old Na’Uosha Johnson-Chavis in Knoxville on October 23. The incident occurred during a physical altercation outside a Parkridge apartment, where Wright allegedly struck a man with a handgun, causing it to discharge and fatally injuring Chavis. She was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital, while the other man sustained injuries.
Wright was apprehended after fleeing the scene in a red truck, leading to a brief police pursuit. Authorities have charged him with felony reckless homicide, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon. According to the Knoxville Police Department, Wright’s reckless actions directly led to Chavis’s death. His bond is set at $85,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on October 27.
