Agustin Prado, a 30-year-old man from Waukegan, has been sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of attempting to sell illegal firearms, some of which were reported stolen. This case is part of a wider crackdown on gun trafficking, with Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul highlighting the dangers posed by such activities that allow firearms to reach those prohibited from possessing them.
In tandem with Prado’s sentence, co-defendant Cesar Morales received a 12-year prison term earlier this year for gunrunning. The investigation indicated that the duo illegally sold a total of 16 firearms and additional drugs in Lake and Cook counties, underscoring the seriousness of crimes associated with illicit gun sales and their role in escalating neighborhood violence.
