Over three days, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents issued 60 citations for migratory game bird hunting violations across the state. This enforcement action took place from November 21 to November 23, shortly after the duck, coot, and merganser hunting seasons opened in different zones on November 15 and 22.
Among the violations, agents cite 18 individuals for taking over the limit of ducks and others for not possessing a federal duck stamp. With fines ranging from $350 to $950 and potential jail time for offenses such as hunting with an unplugged gun or during closed seasons, this crackdown underscores the strict regulations governing migratory bird hunting in Louisiana. Such violations can also lead to federal charges prosecuted in U.S. District Court.
