A 20-year-old Newark man, Carnell Goodwin, is arrested by Clifton police after officers discover a loaded ghost gun and illegal substances during a traffic stop early Wednesday morning. The stop occurred around 12:38 a.m. on Route 46 West, where police pulled over a Honda Accord for multiple traffic violations. A search of the vehicle revealed a handgun with 16 rounds of ammunition, including hollow point bullets, as well as an open container of alcohol and packaged marijuana indicating potential intent to distribute.
The investigation escalated as officers found that the firearm was made from parts lacking serial numbers, violating legal requirements. Goodwin’s charges include several firearm offenses and possession of marijuana for distribution, while the driver received citations for her traffic violations.
