Long Beach Police Recover Handguns from Bay

A man prohibited from owning guns was arrested by Long Beach police after he discarded two firearms, including one into the bay, while fleeing from officers. The incident unfolded Thursday evening as police patrolled the downtown area, where they spotted the suspect with a gun in the 200 block of Aquarium Way.

As police attempted to detain him, he ran onto the Queensway Bridge, tossing the handguns overboard. Thanks to a rapid response from a police dive team, authorities successfully recovered the firearm from the water, highlighting the critical collaboration between police and specialized units in ensuring public safety.
