Two individuals in Myrtle Beach narrowly escaped a violent encounter when a man allegedly charged at them armed with a machete. The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Thomas Walsh, was apprehended by police after the victims, fearing for their lives, used a concealed weapon to hold him at gunpoint following his aggressive advance with the weapon drawn.
According to police reports, Walsh’s panic-induced rampage began at a nearby used car dealership where he triggered a burglary alarm. As he approached the victims at ABC Mobile, he came within feet of them before one victim fired a shot, causing Walsh to drop the machete. This incident not only highlights the quick thinking of the victims but also adds to Walsh’s troubling history, which includes a previous attempted armed robbery charge from June 2022. He is currently being held on a $50,000 bond.
