Authorities have arrested 27-year-old Pedro Oscar Vazquez Quirindongo in connection with an armed robbery and carjacking that took place outside Republic Food and Lounge in Allapattah last month. Surveillance footage helped police identify him as the suspect who, armed with a semi-automatic handgun, forced a woman to give up her gold chain and car keys at around 5 a.m. on July 27.
After the incident, the stolen vehicle was recovered nearby using GPS tracking. Detectives released a “need to identify” flyer featuring images of the suspect, leading to Quirindongo’s arrest when an officer recognized him days later. Although he admitted to being in the footage, he denied being involved in the robbery, leaving many questions about the case unanswered.
