A man in Meriden, Connecticut, faces multiple charges after police uncover five handguns and more than 200 rounds of ammunition in a storage unit. The discovery, made after the unit was cleaned out for nonpayment last December, began when a handgun fell from a bin, prompting facility employees to contact law enforcement.
Police found not only the firearms, one of which had an obliterated serial number, but also an aftermarket device that can convert handguns into automatic weapons. Toby Brown, a 44-year-old convicted felon, was charged with several firearm-related offenses, including illegal possession and alteration of firearm serial numbers. After posting a $350,000 bond, he is scheduled to appear in court on November 18.
