Austin police arrested 35-year-old Jason M. Parnell after he allegedly impersonated an officer and threatened pedestrians with a stun gun in the early hours of April 13. Witnesses reported his erratic behavior as he pointed the stun gun at multiple people near West Sixth and Nueces Streets, prompting numerous 911 calls to authorities.
Officers located Parnell at the scene, where they discovered a BB gun in his waistband and a stun gun in his vehicle. He now faces serious charges, including two counts of Terroristic Threat and Impersonating a Public Servant, which raise concerns about public safety and trust in legitimate law enforcement. Parnell has been released on bond with specific conditions regarding firearm possession and mental health evaluations.
