A 22-year-old Mt. Pleasant man, William Paul Thompson, is charged with multiple felonies, including first-degree criminal sexual conduct and unlawful imprisonment, after a woman reported being held captive for a week. The woman alleged that Thompson, who was homeless, threatened her with a firearm and repeatedly assaulted her during her captivity in Isabella County.
According to the Michigan State Police, the victim managed to escape and reported the incident, prompting authorities to locate and arrest Thompson. Evidence collected corroborates her claims, and a bond has been set at $1 million. A probable cause conference is scheduled for September 11, with a preliminary exam to follow on September 18.
