A 58-year-old man, Keith Harding, is discovered dead at the Grand Regency of Jackson Park Supportive Living facility in South Shore just hours after police fatally shot a knife-wielding man nearby. Harding was found around 6:35 a.m. with visible cuts on his arm and neck, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding both incidents.
The police shooting occurred at approximately 2:50 a.m. when officers responded to reports of a person threatening residents. After attempts to subdue the knife-wielding individual with tasers failed, officers shot him as he advanced with the weapon. While detectives investigate whether there is a link between the two events, Harding’s death remains under review pending autopsy results.
