Man Holds Up SC Dollar General With Rifle

A man armed with an assault-style rifle robs a Dollar General store in Pomaria, South Carolina, at approximately 8:45 PM Friday night. The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office reports that the suspect demanded money from both a store clerk and a customer before fleeing toward State Route 202.

Law enforcement officials are actively searching for the suspect, utilizing tracking dogs and a SLED helicopter that was in the area for an unrelated missing person case. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a heavy black jacket and a scarf or mask covering his face, which raises concerns about public safety in the area. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office at 803-321-2222.
