Man Indicted for Toledo Papa John’s Armed Robbery

A 55-year-old man has been indicted by a Lucas County grand jury for his alleged armed robbery at a Papa John’s in Toledo, Ohio. Douglas Smith faces multiple charges, including two counts of aggravated robbery, after he reportedly walked into the restaurant on March 18 and threatened an employee while brandishing a weapon, demanding cash.

According to court records, Smith, wearing a Burger King uniform during the incident, left the scene with approximately $500 in cash. His arrest on April 9 followed a public appeal for information from the U.S. Marshals Service, highlighting the swift law enforcement response to the crime. This case raises questions about the use of disguises in such offenses and the potential legal repercussions that follow.
