Man Shoots Himself with Stolen Gun While Playing

An 18-year-old man in Altoona, Pennsylvania, faces multiple illegal firearms charges after he accidentally shot himself in the knee with a stolen gun. The incident occurred on June 30 when Landon Dibert reportedly used the firearm’s laser to play with his pet cat, resulting in a frightening twist when the weapon discharged unexpectedly.

Police responded to the scene after receiving reports of a gunshot fired inside an apartment. Dibert’s girlfriend recounted hearing a loud bang before discovering that he had sustained a gunshot wound, leading to a police investigation that revealed the firearm had been stolen. Prohibited from possessing firearms, Dibert now faces charges including reckless endangerment and receiving stolen property, and is currently free on unsecured bail.
