Gabe Martinez, a Marine who lost both legs in an explosion during a deployment in Afghanistan 15 years ago, is advocating for a fundraising campaign to support critically wounded veterans. As part of Semper Fi & America’s Fund’s initiative to raise $15 million, every contribution made by December 31 will be matched by The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation and PXG, amplifying the impact of each donation for those like Martinez and his fellow veterans.
Martinez’s journey began on Thanksgiving Day in 2010 when he triggered an improvised explosive device while clearing a road. The Semper Fi Fund has since played a vital role in his recovery and reintegration, providing critical support, including mental health services and assistance with adaptive sports, which helped him regain confidence. By sharing his experience, Martinez hopes to inform other struggling service members that they are not alone during the challenging holiday season.
