Despite holding a valid F-1 visa until June 2026 and applying for permanent residency, Harsono now faces potential deportation. His attorney believes that ICE’s use of his protest history to oppose bond requests illustrates a concerning trend of targeting international students based on their participation in political protests. “His continued detainment is unjust and serves no benefit other than to tear apart a loving and law-abiding family,” his wife, Peyton Harsono, stated in a letter to ICE, emphasizing the emotional strain on their family amid this legal struggle.
