MBW Seeks Help as Funding Drops Amid Gun Violence Crisis

My Brother’s Workshop (MBW), a nonprofit aimed at aiding at-risk youth, urgently appeals for community support as government funding plummets by 50% amid a worrying increase in gun violence in the Virgin Islands. With a recent $5 million grant dedicated to expanding their campus consumed entirely by construction costs, MBW now faces the dilemma of sustaining critical programs that provide life skills, education, and job training without adequate operational funding.

The organization’s Executive Director highlights that while they’ve successfully grown from serving four students to roughly 100 annually, their expanded facilities have the potential to assist over 200 youths each year with proper financial backing. As intervention programs like MBW are proven to save communities millions in the long term, the continued existence of these services becomes paramount for fostering safer environments and transforming young lives.
