McCaskey High Hosts Gun Safety Discussion Event

Students, faculty, and community members at McCaskey High School participate in a dialogue about gun violence, featuring discussions led by David Greene, host of NPR’s “Left, Right and Center,” and Ketch Secor, frontman of Old Crow Medicine Show. This event centers around their documentary, “Louder than Guns,” which seeks to shift the narrative on gun violence from political rhetoric to personal conversations, especially involving youth perspectives.

The program coincides with the regional premiere of the documentary, showcasing real stories as students like Sofia Nesbitt and Mary schuler share firsthand experiences with gun violence. Greene emphasizes the necessity of including young voices in these critical discussions, saying, “How could we possibly have a conversation about protecting our kids without involving them?” Their aim is to build unity through music and dialogue, highlighting the hope that younger generations will drive meaningful change in the gun safety debate.
