Newly released bodycam footage captures the moments leading up to Miami-Dade officers shooting an armed man during a tense confrontation in March 2024. The video shows officers engaging Christian Roque, who fled from a traffic stop, brandishing a gun as he ran into Marva Y. Bannerman Park, where civilians, including children, were present.
In the footage, officers repeatedly command Roque to drop his firearm, warning him of the consequences if he fails to comply. When he does not obey, the officers discharge their weapons, hitting him multiple times. Authorities later confirmed that Roque survived the incident and that a firearm was recovered at the scene, leading to a Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office determination deeming the shooting legally justified.
