Minimal Changes to West Virginia’s 2025 Hunting Regulations

Proposed changes to West Virginia’s big game hunting regulations for 2025 introduce only minor adjustments, according to biologists from the Division of Natural Resources. Notable alterations include lifting the permit requirement for antlerless deer in southern Clay County and much of Nicholas County, while Hancock County could see an increase in its antlerless bag limit from one to three. Meanwhile, black bear hunting faces a more restrictive approach in Nicholas County, including the removal of specific hunting seasons.

The recommendations were presented during the Natural Resources Commission’s annual meeting in Huntington, with a vote set for April following feedback sessions for hunters. As sportsmen prepare for the upcoming season, they will have the opportunity to voice their opinions on these changes during the sectional meetings in March, emphasizing community engagement in wildlife management.
