MMA past President Dr. Laurel Ries emphasizes the profound, long-term consequences of such tragedies, stating that survivors often face enduring health issues, while families and communities deal with the resultant trauma. The proposed measures include a statewide ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, along with mandatory secure storage of firearms.
