Montana Gov. Signs Law Favoring Firearm Industry

Montana Governor Greg Gianforte recently signed legislation designed to bolster the state’s firearm industry, clarifying that the design, manufacture, and sale of firearms are not deemed public nuisances. This law, known as HB 791, aims to shield the firearm and ammunition businesses from local regulations, creating a more favorable climate for industry growth in the Big Sky State.

By preempting municipal ordinances that could undermine state laws, the legislation sends a strong message against what industry advocates call “lawfare” from gun control activists. Governor Gianforte’s proactive measures could attract more firearm companies, as evidenced by the relocation of several businesses, including a significant $125 million investment from Brixtel Defense, which promises hundreds of new jobs for the local economy.
