Montana Governor Invites Gun Makers from Colorado

Montana Governor Greg Gianforte actively encourages Colorado gun manufacturers to relocate to Montana following the passage of restrictive gun laws in Colorado. These include Senate Bill 25-003, which bans the manufacture and sale of semi-automatic rifles and shotguns that utilize detachable magazines. Gianforte denounces these regulations, calling them “one of the most restrictive gun bans ever adopted in the United States.”

Highlighting Montana’s supportive environment for the gun industry, Gianforte notes that his state hosts over 150 firearms and ammunition manufacturers, the highest per capita in the nation. He argues that Montana embraces “freedom and the free-enterprise system,” contrasting it with Colorado’s increasingly stringent regulations, including a recent excise tax on firearms and a waiting period for purchases. Such a shift could significantly impact the gun industry landscape.
