Montana Gun Maker Wins Army Competition Award

Olympus Arms, a gun manufacturer based in Helena, Montana, has been awarded a significant contract from the US Army as part of the PGS X Tech Competition. This prestigious win allows Michael Merino, the company’s founder, to move forward with plans to produce a state-of-the-art 30mm support rifle locally, promising to create high-paying jobs in the region.

Merino’s innovative design is intended to compete with advanced grenade launchers from global adversaries, enhancing the US Army’s capabilities with precision-targeting features that can engage threats at a distance of 600 meters. He describes the weapon as a “handheld howitzer,” capable of delivering pinpoint accuracy against both personnel and drones. This development not only marks a pivotal moment for Olympus Arms but also sets the stage for the modernization of military equipment in Montana and beyond.
