After losing her son to gun violence 25 years ago, Callie Greer dedicates her life to supporting other grieving mothers through her organization, Mothers Against All Violence in Solidarity (MAAVIS). In her ongoing mission, Greer has become part of a larger national network of over 200,000 crime survivors, working to connect with others who share similar losses and advocate for public safety reforms.
Greer emphasizes the need for community and healing, stating, “I needed to be in a space with other people that were healing.” On August 21, she will speak at the Crime Survivors Speak conference, where she aims to empower survivors to advocate for the justice they seek.
