The annual Morgantown Urban Deer Hunt continues to thrive, with organizers reporting a successful 2024 season that yielded a total harvest of 143 deer, including 111 antlerless and 32 bucks. This year’s effort has resulted in 1,353 pounds of ground venison, which has been donated to various local food pantries and soup kitchens, benefitting the community’s most vulnerable populations.

Approximately 90 trained hunters participate in the program, which has proven effective in reducing the city’s deer population while providing a sustainable source of meat for those in need.
