A Moscow court has fined Russia’s Central Bank for violations related to the illegal storage of firearms, according to reports from TASS. The infractions were uncovered during inspections by the Russian National Guard at the bank’s Interregional Security Center, revealing that handguns, including two Makarov pistols linked to security personnel, were improperly stored.
Inspectors determined that the Central Bank had firearms in its possession that did not belong to them, violating Russia’s Federal Law on Weapons. While the Central Bank claims these were only briefly stored during a visit and maintains it holds a valid licensing, it has nonetheless appealed the fine, raising questions about proper firearm management within governmental institutions.
