Mount Vernon police have arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with a suspected drug overdose that led to the death of a 39-year-old local resident. The investigation began on January 21, when authorities identified evidence suggesting that a drug overdose was the likely cause of death, leading detectives to track down the individual believed to have supplied the drugs.
During the suspect’s arrest on February 13, officers discovered various controlled substances in his possession, prompting multiple charges, including controlled substance homicide and possession with intent to deliver. Additionally, the suspect faces charges related to DUI and reckless endangerment, along with outstanding warrants for illegal firearm possession. The investigation remains ongoing as police have not yet released the names of either the suspect or the deceased.
