The District Crime Cell (DCC) in Chandigarh has apprehended 24-year-old Arjun Thakur, alias Munna, a murder convict who was on the run after jumping parole. Law enforcement officers arrested him near Radha Swami Satsang Bhawan in Maloya, where they seized a country-made pistol along with two live cartridges from him, leading to charges under the Arms Act.
Thakur was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Chandigarh district court shortly before he was granted 28 days of parole. Police reports indicate that he aimed to intimidate the public and possibly commit further crimes for ransom, seeking to portray an image of notoriety across Tricity. His case raises concerns about parole management and public safety in the region.
