N.J. High Schools Install Metal Detectors After Gun Incident

In response to a troubling incident where a student brought a loaded gun to Woodbridge High School, three high schools in New Jersey’s Woodbridge school district will be installing metal detectors immediately. Superintendent Joseph Massimino announced the decision, emphasizing the urgent need for enhanced safety measures following a threatening message sent by the student prior to the discovery of the firearm.

With a combined enrollment of over 4,000 students, Woodbridge High School, Colonia High School, and John F. Kennedy Memorial High School will implement the detectors sooner than originally planned for the next academic year. As part of broader safety discussions, Massimino noted strong support from parents and the local police, aiming to ensure student and staff safety remains a top priority in the wake of this alarming event.
