A 47-year-old man from Negley, Ohio, is facing legal trouble after a handgun was discovered in his carry-on bag at the Pittsburgh International Airport. Transportation Security Administration officers identified the firearm at 7:39 a.m. on Sunday, leading to the involvement of Allegheny County Police, who confirmed that Justin Stanley did not hold a valid concealed carry permit.
Stanley has since been charged with a misdemeanor for carrying a firearm without a license and is currently held on a $3,000 bond following his arraignment. Notably, the TSA warns that passengers bringing firearms to airport security checkpoints can face civil fines ranging from $10,000, with escalating penalties for repeat offenses. A preliminary hearing for Stanley is set for August 4.
