A 48-year-old Newfield resident, Ransome S. Vanriper, is arrested on 12 felony charges following a search warrant executed by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and the DEA. The discovery at his mobile home on Douglas Road includes 15 firearms, among them high-capacity weapons, and items believed to be related to the production of improvised explosives.
The investigation highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat gun violence in the area. Sheriff Derek Osborne emphasized the commitment to removing illegal firearms from the community and holding accountable those who engage in violent crimes. Vanriper is currently held on $50,000 bail after being processed at the Tompkins County Jail.
