Newport News Man Charged in French Bulldog Heist

A Newport News man is arrested for the armed robbery of four French Bulldogs valued at $4,000 each in Ladysmith, prompting concern for animal safety. The incident unfolded when a seller was confronted at gunpoint by the alleged robber, who not only took the puppies but also stole a firearm from the seller’s vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Following an extensive investigation, 37-year-old Ronald Gaylord James was identified as the suspect and apprehended without incident in Hampton. Authorities confirmed that all four stolen French Bulldogs have been safely recovered and are under the care of Hampton Police Animal Control, with James facing multiple charges, including armed robbery and grand larceny.
