Newtown Police Hold Successful Gun Buyback Event

The Newtown Police Department successfully hosted its annual “Gun Buyback” event on November 1, where community members could anonymously turn in firearms for gift cards. With gift card values ranging from $25 for small handguns to $200 for assault weapons, the initiative drew significant participation, highlighting community efforts to reduce gun violence and enhance safety.

In addition to the buyback program, the event provided forty free gun safes on a first-come, first-served basis, further promoting responsible gun ownership. Officers from the Newtown PD were present to guide participants through the process, ensuring an organized and secure operation. This collaborative event, supported by the Newtown Action Alliance Foundation, reflects ongoing community commitment to safety and responsible gun practices.
